Our main tool for 3d modeling is Modo. We have been using it along side 3ds Max since Modo came out and we purchased it at version 101 in 2004. Modo is now on version 801 and it has come a long way. With high end renders like Maxwell and Vray fully integrated into it frankly there is no reason to use 3ds Max anymore. That is a pretty harsh statement, let me explain why. Simply put, modo is a newer application and its main focus is making the artist’s work flow faster.

Because we can work faster this allows us to decrease the overall cost of our work as well as work faster to hit deadlines. Modo’s workflow differs substantially from many other mainstream 3D applications. While Maya and 3ds Max stress using the right tool for the job, Modo artists typically use a much smaller number of basic tools and combine them to create new tools using the Tool Pipe and customizable action centers and falloffs.
